NRLN Goes To Bat For General Motors Retirees

NRLN President Bill Kadereit has faxed letters to Congressional Leaders calling attention to the General Motors announcement that it would cancel its healthcare plan for Medicare-eligible retirees on January 1, 2008. The letters to Democrat and Republican leaders in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives and Chairs and Ranking Members of the Committees that deal with retiree issues asks for legislation to overturn the EEOC Rule. The Rule allows employers to reduce or eliminate healthcare plans for retirees age 65 and older.

NRLN President Tells Congressional Leaders About Qwest's Threats Toward Retirees' Life Insurance
NRLN President Bill Kadereit has faxed letters to Congressional leaders to tell them about Qwest Communications' threats directed toward U S WEST / Qwest retirees' life insurance benefits that were filed in a legal brief. Mr. Kadereit cited the threats as another example of why Congress needs to pass legislation to protect retirement benefits. NRLN President Bill Kadereit has sent letters to a dozen of Congress' top leaders asking what leadership they intend to provide to uphold the laws that were written to help workers and retirees, not harm them as the Treasury's and EEOC's rules are going to do.
