Watch for Your Medicare Annual Notice of Change If you have a Medicare Advantage (MA) and/or you purchase your own Medicare Part D prescription drug plan, you should receive an Annual Notices of Change (ANOC) letter or email. DO NOT IGNORE IT. The ANOC provides a detailed summary of all of the changes to your MA plan or Part D plan in 2026. If you have not already received your ANOC you should receive it by September 30. If you do not receive it by that date, contact your MA insurance company and/or your Part D plan provider. The primary purpose of the ANOC is to provide you with a comparison between your current plan’s benefits and those for next year. Information in your ANCO may cause you to change your MA healthcare insurance plan and/or Part D coverage during the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period scheduled for October 15 – December 7. If …

Since August 2022 the NRLN has been advocating with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) and members of Congress that the federal statutes for Guaranteed Issue Rights (GIR) and Special Enrollment Period (SEP) must be enforced when a Medicare Advantage (MA), Medicare supplement (Medigap) and/or Part D prescription drug plan will not be renewed or reduced for the next year.
On September 22, 2025, CMS issued a letter to insurance companies, corporations and unions who provide these healthcare plans that they must provide notice to each of its affected enrollees at least 90 days before the end of the current contract period. As NRLN proposed, along with the notification letter, CMS provided sample letters to be used to inform enrollees to “Keep this letter. It’s proof that you have a special right to buy a [type of policy] or join a Medicare plan.”
Click here to tell your members of Congress to prevent the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) 2026 trial for Traditional Medicare prior authorization which has been a disaster for many Medicare Advantage (MA) enrollers. The “trail” is named “Wasteful and Inappropriate Service Reduction” (WISeR).
WISerR would turn our Traditional Medicare Fee-for-Service (FFS) into a prior authorization/ poor service program. A 2022 investigation by the Department of Health and Human Services Inspector General (HHS IG), found that among all requests, private insurers in MA denied 13% of prior authorizations and 18% of payment denials were unlawful under Medicare coverage guidelines. This means that MA plans delayed or denied enrollees access to services that otherwise would have been approved under Traditional Medicare. Wouldn’t it be wiser to clean up this MA mess? That is where the problems are!
